- Congrats on making Aliyah! In order to get your Ptor, you need to go to the Rabbanut with your Teudat Zehut. You should go to the Rabbanut in your city.
- When you get there, explain to them that you are there to get a Ptor (exemption) from the IDF because you are religious. They will probably ask you if you keep Shabbat and Kashrut, and maybe a few other simple questions. Then, they will stamp your Hatzharah (declaration). There is a 65 NIS processing fee. You may pay in advance and bring proof of payment, or you can pay on-site by credit card. You can complete the payment online through the government payment portal here.
- Your next step is to take your Hatzharah to Lishkat Hagiyus (recruitment office): Be sure to go to the Lishkat Hagiyus in or closest to the city where your official address is registered on your Teudat Zehut. You can find a list of IDF Recruitment Centers here. When you get there, tell them that you are there to get your Ptor from the army because you are religious. It is likely that they will also ask you questions. Once they have processed your request, make sure to give them a reliable mailing address to send you the official Ptor. It may take two to three months to receive it.
You can also email the Hatzharah, along with a high school transcript, ahead of time to banotdatiot@digital.idf.il - There is an expedited process for Lone Bnot Sherut during the summer. You MUST consult with your Sherut Rakezet about your timeline. The Reshut L’Sherut Leumi does its best to work with army liaisons to expedite the Ptor if the Hatzhara is submitted by the end of July to the first week of August.
